The wood dove sings  and the grasses grow tall
Where the pioneers sleep and wild things crawl
The southern cross shines like heaven knew earth needs a crown
Where the creek only runs  when it rains on the hills
Rose petals fall at the sight of first chill
And the colors they cover the face of this ancient ground

Dawn breaks so does my heart
As I walk past places and parts of a story,
The life that I leave behind
Like the oak tree, rusty tin roof
People you love and the people you lose
Well time moves on and so must I

The dust on my boots  Is the last that I’ll know
The place that my Grandfathers Wagon wheels rolled
Im the last living soul five generations ago
